Dallas: City Hotels and Accommodation

Many people visiting the city choose to stay in the heart of the action, with the downtown district being situated approximately 15 miles / 24 km southeast of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The Uptown district also offers a large array of hotels, with mainly mid-range and luxury accommodation on offer.

Hotels in Dallas can be quick to fill up during the summer months, when many of the city's main festivals take place, including the Mexican Cinco de Mayo each May and the State Fair of Texas at the end of September. Here are the main districts in the Dallas area, all of which offer numerous hotels.

Downtown
Downtown Dallas is also known as the Central Business District (CBD) and is the heart of the city's commerce and finance. With many glitzy skyscrapers and breathtaking high-rise buildings, the city's bustling downtown district is full of large and modern hotels, although prices here tend to be on the high side. Accommodation in downtown Dallas has the advantage of being close to many of the city's main companies and office blocks, together with a wealth of restaurants and shops. The downtown district stands within the main central freeway loop, close to the scenic Lake Cliff.

Uptown
Uptown Dallas is a popular place to stay, with reasonably priced hotels a plenty throughout the district. A large number of good-value restaurants can also be found in the city's Uptown neighborhood, along with theaters, bars, fashion boutiques and shopping centers. Many of the most popular hotels in Uptown Dallas stand close to top tourist attractions and the appealing greenbelt area. A local tram network offers a simple way to travel along McKinney Avenue, stopping at a number of places of interest along the way.

Arts District
Famed for its cultural attractions, theaters, museums and galleries, the Arts district can be found on the northern side of downtown Dallas. Highlights in this region include the Dallas Museum of Art, Trammel Crow Center and Morton Meyerson Symphony Center, with plenty of hotels close at hand.

Deep Ellum
With over 40 nightclubs, many vibrant bars and a good selection of accommodation, Deep Ellum is a trendy area of Dallas and regularly attracts a young crowd. Enjoying an appealing southern charm and many live-music venues, Deep Ellum lies close to the city center, on the northeastern side of Highway 75.

University Park
Comprising several impressive universities and colleges, this neighborhood is a leafy suburb of Dallas and within easy reach of the downtown district. Incorporated the expansive Highlands Park, accommodation in this peaceful area includes guest houses, B&Bs and small hotels, with plenty of parks and green areas nearby.

West End
West End Dallas offers a distinctive tourist appeal, where visitors to the city are especially well catered for. Amenities here include a wealth of hotels, shops, dining venues and bars. The West End district is perhaps most famous for being home to the infamous Dealey Plaza, the spot where President Kennedy was assassinated many years ago in 1963.
